Update on 04/01/21 at 13:22
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
We are writing to let you know that we are currently operating school swimming as normal at all venues across the City.
However, as we are all aware, the situation is changing on a day-by-day basis and therefore we are going to take advice on whether the service should continue if Sheffield is put into Tier 4 or we go into a third National lockdown.
In the meantime, please follow the guidance/risk assessments that are in place and if you have any concerns please contact us.
Update on 15/12/20 at 16:51
Please keep referring to this information as it is rapidly changing on an hourly basis.
The legislation has stated that School Swimming can continue through this second phase of lockdown. However we work with lots of different pool operators who will be approaching this lockdown in very different ways. For now School Swimming will continue as normal for schools who swim at the following venues:
Mylnhurst (from week commencing 9th November)
Graves (from week commencing 9th November)
Thorncliffe (from week commencing 9th November)
Stocksbridge (from week commencing 9th November)
Ponds Forge (from week commencing 5th January)
Westfield (from week commencing 5th January)
Please note that these pools will only be open for School Swimming lessons and not open to the public. All other School Swimming lessons are postponed until we can agree a start date. This will be communicated to you as soon as we know. Hopefully very few lessons will be missed but we have to work with the venues to establish a sensible way forward.
We will do everything we can to avoid pupils missing lessons but please continue to arrange a plan B for pupils as we may have to cancel your lessons at the last minute. Thank you for your support and commitment to school swimming.
Please see below for information relating to COVID19. This page will be regularly reviewed and updated so please keep coming back and checking the information and documents.
We have written a return to school swimming guidance document for you to download and read:
Pupils will be required to come “beach ready” to their swimming lessons i.e. wearing their swimming costume or swimming shorts under their clothes. Girls can wear tankinis while the changing restrictions are in place. Please ensure your pupils are all “beach ready” before leaving school.
The showers at the venues will not be in use, therefore please encourage your pupils to shower at home on a swimming day.
Googles maybe worn, but for some activities pupils will be asked to removed them to complete certain parts of the National Curriculum. Please make sure your pupils can put their goggles on and adjust them by themselves; our swimming teachers will not be able to assist with this.
We have written a updated template letter for parents you can download and adapt for your school:
Our parent/carer video presentation has updated to include information about COVID19, please point your parents/carers to the ‘Info for Parents/Carers‘ page.

We hosted a presentation focusing on the recovery of school swimming, please download the presentation:
